Tim Cook and Jimmy Fallon Discuss Apple Career, iPhone 16 in NYC Stroll

On Friday, Jimmy Fallon, the host of The Tonight Show, was at the Fifth Avenue Apple Store when Apple CEO Tim Cook personally handed him his new iPhone 16 outside the store.

Fallon, who was wearing a Vision Pro headset, jokingly remarked that the spatial computer made it seem as if Cook was handing him the phone.

After playfully touching the executive’s face, Fallon realized that the actual Tim Cook had indeed given him his new device, which was part of the humorous act.

As Cook was on his way to the Upper East Side Apple Store, he chose to accompany Fallon, and they engaged in a conversation.

Cook shared that he enjoys visiting the Fifth Avenue Apple Store annually during the release of new iPhone models because it feels like “the center of the world,” and the excitement there is remarkable.

Fallon inquired whether Cook feels like a rock star on iPhone launch days when he visits Apple Stores.

Cook acknowledged that it feels like an out-of-body experience for him, but he reminds himself that the fans cheering for him are merely expressing their affection for Apple, and he just happens to be the face they associate with it.

Cook, who has been with Apple for 27 years, never imagined he would become CEO of the company.

He initially took on the role in January 2009 when then-CEO Steve Jobs temporarily stepped down due to health issues, just two years after Jobs had brilliantly introduced the iPhone.

That summer, Jobs returned to his position as CEO, but he ultimately resigned for good in August 2011, less than two months before his death from pancreatic cancer. Since then, Tim Cook has held the position of Apple CEO.

The productivity and creativity of computers piqued Cook’s interest in these devices during his college years at Auburn.

When Fallon inquires about what excites Cook the most about the new iPhone 16 series, he simply responds, “all of it.”

He also highlights Apple’s AI initiative, revealing that its staggered rollout will begin in October—unless one opts for the iOS 18.1 beta, which currently suffers from poor battery life.

Among the AI features Cook discusses are the ability to generate email summaries, a significant time-saver for busy executives like himself. Apple’s CEO also mentions two features that are not expected to launch until December: the Image Playground, which generates images based on user descriptions, and Genmoji, which creates custom emojis based on descriptions provided.

Neither of these features is included in the iOS 18.1 beta, suggesting they will likely debut in December with the anticipated iOS 18.2.

Finally, the pair arrives at the Upper East Side Apple Store, where the CEO enters while Fallon reads an iMessage from Cook, providing a humorous conclusion to an engaging video.
