OLED tablet panel shipments are experiencing a significant increase in the second quarter of 2024. Additionally, the volume for 2024 is projected to surpass 13 million panels, more than tripling the previous numbers. It appears that OLED tablets are in high demand!
The most recent comprehensive report from the consistently insightful Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) reveals that OLED tablet panel shipments soared to an unprecedented 4.11 million units in the second quarter of 2024.
That represents a 142% increase from the previous quarter and a 356% rise compared to the same period last year.
This growth was propelled by Apple’s introduction of its new 11.1” and 13” iPad Pro M4 (2024) models, which are the first in the tablet industry to feature tandem OLED stack panels and are also exceptionally thin and elegant.
During the reviewed period, Apple dominated the OLED tablet panel market with a 72% market share, trailed by Huawei with 13% and Samsung with 9%. The 13” OLED iPad Pro M4 (2024) was the leading model for the second quarter in a row, with both the 13” and 11.1” versions each accounting for a 36% share in panel procurement. The Huawei Mate Pad Pro 13.2” ranked third with a 5% share. Among panel suppliers, LG Display and Samsung Display each secured a 41% share.
For the third quarter of 2024, OLED tablet panel shipments are expected to decrease by 9% from the previous quarter but increase by 153% compared to the same period last year, reaching a total of 3.75 million panels.
Despite an expected decline in Apple’s market share, this will be balanced by gains from new entrants such as Honor and Microsoft, along with increased production from Huawei, Lenovo, and Samsung. Notably, Huawei has launched the first tandem stack OLED tablet outside of Apple’s offerings, while Samsung’s production is projected to more than double in preparation for the release of the Galaxy Tab S10 Plus and S10 Ultra.

The 11.1-inch OLED iPad Pro is projected to dominate panel procurement in the third quarter of 2024, capturing a 28% share, in contrast to the 17% share of the 13-inch iPad Pro.
The report indicates that the new Honor Magic Pad 2 is anticipated to achieve third place with an 8% market share. Samsung Display is predicted to dominate the market with a 47% share, followed by EDO with 24% and LG Display with 23%. The number of OLED tablet models sourcing panels is expected to rise to 19 in Q3 2024, up from 10 in Q3 2023.
