We previously discussed the HMD Hyper, a mid-range device that includes numerous design elements from the Lumia series. Today, we have another leak indicating that HMD is developing an additional phone inspired by the Lumia lineup.
While HMD is working on several devices, information about most of them is currently scarce. The Finnish company is expected to reveal its vibrant pink clamshell feature phone, the HMD Barbie, by the end of the month, alongside a few other mid-range smartphones that are in development.
One of the most prominent differences between the unnamed device and the HMD Hyper is the arrangement of the camera island. On the unidentified HMD phone, the LED flash is positioned on the middle right side of the camera island, while on the HMD Hyper, it is found in the upper right corner.
Since neither of the two images shows the front side, it is impossible to determine whether the phone will feature the same punch-hole display as the previously leaked HMD Hyper.
YouTube Multiview feature launches soon, but with a catch
It appears that HMD has a definite vision for the design of its phones, although we would have appreciated a bit more variety. The HMD Skyline design seems to serve as the foundation for many of the company’s forthcoming devices, which is certainly not uncommon in the smartphone industry.
It is yet to be determined whether HMD’s effort to leverage Lumia nostalgia will be successful. Fortunately, we won’t have to wait long, as many of these unannounced phones are expected to be unveiled next month at IFA 2024.
