Nothing CEO Carl Pei has leaked a feature that will be included in Nothing OS 3.0 and is expected to be loved by many users.
The upcoming major update for the Nothing Phone, known as Nothing OS 3.0, is anticipated to launch concurrently with the release of the Nothing Phone (2a) Community Edition. This version of the device will feature modifications to the hardware, as suggested by fans. Additionally, the phone will incorporate wallpaper and packaging designs contributed by the general public. The Nothing Community will also assist in promoting the phone.
The founder and CEO of Nothing, Carl Pei, has shared images showcasing new features that will be included in Nothing OS 3.0. Pei unveiled new functionalities for the lock screen, as well as upcoming interactive dot animations for Quick Settings. The images were shared on his “X” account, where Pei has the username “@getpeid,” which I believe to be the best “X” username ever.
Pei shared an image showcasing three lock screen customizations for Nothing users. The first option, Default, displays the clock, day, and date. The Clock + Widget choice features a dot display for the time along with three widgets for weather, quick actions, and the date. The third customization, Expanded Widget Area, includes an analog clock, a large date tile, and widgets for weather, quick actions, and contacts.
Pei also provided details about the Interactive Dot Animation that will consist of three layers: the input image layer, the live interaction layer, and the final output layer. Nothing OS 3.0 is anticipated to include a new native gallery and community app. Pei mentioned that an official unveiling of Nothing OS 3.0 is scheduled for September. The company released Nothing OS 2.0 in August of last year. The update will be accessible for the Nothing Phone (1), Nothing Phone (2), and Nothing Phone (2a).
Pei’s excitement about the upcoming release of Nothing OS 3.0 led him to share information about the lock screen customizations, despite apologizing to the team for the leak in his tweet. It should be noted that Pei has a history of using his personal social media accounts to reveal details about upcoming phones at companies like OnePlus (which he helped create) and Nothing.
