The Chinese OnePlus Pad Pro could potentially be the long-awaited successor to the global OnePlus Pad 2.

OnePlus recently revealed the OnePlus Pad Pro in China and posted a picture on their social media platform, Weibo. There is speculation that the image could be a preview of the upcoming OnePlus Pad 2. While OnePlus has not confirmed this, it is possible that they will use the name “OnePlus Pad 2” for the global release.

The Chinese OnePlus Pad Pro could potentially be the long-awaited successor to the global OnePlus Pad 2.

The picture from OnePlus displays a new keyboard accessory and stylus pen that are not currently available for the original OnePlus Pad. The keyboard attachment seems to be an enhanced version of the magnetic keyboard already provided by OnePlus.

There are not many details available at the moment, but OnePlus stated on Weibo that the OnePlus Pad Pro will be “the most powerful Android tablet.” This could suggest that it will utilize the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, currently the most powerful chip available. In contrast, the original OnePlus Pad utilized the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chip, so switching to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 would represent a significant improvement.

The design of the OnePlus Pad Pro closely resembles that of the original OnePlus Pad, with some minor distinctions. The back of the OnePlus Pad Pro features a matte finish, in contrast to the brushed metal appearance of the original OnePlus Pad. Additionally, the color options differ slightly, with the OnePlus Pad Pro offering a green shade that is distinct from the “Halo Green” of its predecessor, as well as a new dark gray or black option.

In April, there was speculation that the OnePlus Pad 2 would be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip. Although this has not been officially confirmed, the naming of the OnePlus Pad Pro as the “most powerful Android tablet” suggests it is probable. It is possible that the OnePlus Pad Pro is essentially the Chinese version of the OnePlus Pad 2, whether intentional or not.

OnePlus has used this naming strategy before. They have previously launched phones with different names in China and the global market. This could be because of various reasons like catering to different consumer preferences or market regulations. Regardless of the cause, it is something to consider if you are uncertain about which OnePlus model to purchase.
