Samsung may ditch Galaxy S25 Plus model

Unfortunate news for Samsung enthusiasts! It appears that the Korean company may be discontinuing one of its flagship models, as reported by Android Headlines. With the official launch of the Galaxy S25 series approaching, model numbers are beginning to surface on certification registry websites.

Our colleagues at AH discovered multiple model numbers, such as SM-S931B/DS for the standard Galaxy S25 and SM-S938B, SM-S938U, SM-S938N, and SM-S9380 for the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The letter “B” indicates it is for Europe, “U” for the US, and “N” for South Korea.

However, it appears that there is no model number yet for the Galaxy S25+. This could suggest that Samsung may be eliminating the middle model from its lineup. Since 2020, Samsung has maintained a consistent lineup of three models, excluding the compact S10e and adding the Ultra model.

Samsung has decided to discontinue the Galaxy S25 Plus. Here is our opinion.

If we attempt to objectively identify reasons for Samsung’s decision to discontinue the Galaxy S25+, the most apparent reason would be sales. However, this argument does not align with the data, as Counterpoint research indicates that sales of the Galaxy S Plus models have actually risen by 53% from the S23 to the S24 series and make up 21% of all S24 devices sold.

Another reason to not discontinue the Galaxy S25+ model is the competition’s current offerings. Apple has released a Plus device for fans of large screens, and Google appears to be following suit with the Pixel 9 lineup, which includes three separate devices.

Features and expectations of the Galaxy S25 series.

It is anticipated that the Galaxy S25 series will be released early next year, with Samsung likely to unveil the new flagship models in January or February. We anticipate the typical hardware enhancements, with all models expected to feature Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processors optimized for Galaxy devices.
