Certification Shows Galaxy S25, S25 Plus Charging Speeds Unchanged

The upcoming Samsung flagship models may not differ significantly from their predecessors, contrary to what consumers may have anticipated.

We have already seen renders of the Galaxy S25 phones, which exhibit only minor updates, and now the 3C certification from China has confirmed their charging speeds: they remain unchanged.

The S25 and S25 Plus will not offer any improvements in wired charging speeds compared to the S24 and S24 Plus; the S25 will charge at 25W, while the S25 Plus will charge at 45W. Wireless charging speeds have not been disclosed.

Additionally, Samsung is currently facing legal action for allegedly stealing its wireless charging technology.

The 3C certification for the Galaxy S25 Ultra indicates that it will also charge at 45W. More notably, the S25 Ultra is expected to feature satellite connectivity.

While it is sure to be a powerful device, it is somewhat disappointing to see Samsung playing it safe with charging speeds, especially when even budget Chinese smartphones offer faster options.

The most significant change appears to be the new design that the Ultra is reportedly adopting. Although the S25 and S25 Plus resemble their predecessors, the S25 Ultra is said to have rounder edges.

I still believe that the sharp design of the Ultra models from recent years should have been retained, though this new look may be more comfortable for some users.

Aside from that, it appears that Samsung’s latest offerings are merely a modest upgrade. The iPhone 16 is hardly distinguishable from the iPhone 15 lineup, making it an insignificant update as well.

Unfortunately, it seems that the S25 series will follow suit with more of the same features. Even the Galaxy Tab S10 looks set to mirror the Tab S9, with the only enhancement being a slightly slimmer design.

It will also introduce a Galaxy AI button, but it’s too early to determine how widely it will be adopted. All the leaks we’ve seen so far indicate one clear trend: Samsung is focusing on making everything thinner.

The S25 Ultra will be the thinnest Ultra model yet, while the other S25 devices are prioritizing reduced thickness over potentially improved battery life. With such minimal upgrades from both Samsung and Apple’s flagship models, next year’s standout phones might just end up being the refreshed iPhone SE and Galaxy S24 FE.
