Macs and iPads may miss out at Apple event as AI takes spotlight.

Tomorrow, Apple will announce the iPhone 16, which is likely to be the most fragmented iPhone launch in history due to varying features across different regions.

However, if you’re hoping to learn more about a new Mac or iPad, you may need to wait until next month.

According to Bloomberg industry insider Mark Gurman, tomorrow’s event will primarily focus on Apple’s ecosystem, often referred to as the company’s “walled garden.” Much of the discussion is expected to center around Apple Intelligence, as it might be the main reason for considering an iPhone 16 purchase.

Gurman believes that the emphasis on the ecosystem could lead Apple to postpone announcements of other products until October. This timing aligns with the public rollout of Apple Intelligence, allowing Apple additional opportunities to promote its AI offerings. Gurman suggests that Apple Intelligence may not be as impressive compared to Gemini, which could further motivate the company to emphasize it.

Anticipated announcements for other products may include a new MacBook Pro and a new iMac, along with the much-rumored M4 Mac mini, which is said to represent the most significant update for the mini in a decade without compromising functionality for aesthetics. A second event in October could also provide Apple with the chance to discuss visionOS 2, the most substantial update to Apple Vision Pro since its release earlier this year.

Gurman notes that Apple remains committed to its Mixed Reality headset and is still pursuing its initial goal of developing AR glasses. The company is also contemplating a competing product to Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses, following their success. Personally, I hope for not only a second event but also for Apple to share more details about its alleged interest in robotics.

The company is exploring the idea of an AI-powered iPad robot and has ambitious plans for humanoid automatons in the future.
